If you’ve never been to an NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) drag race, I definitely encourage you put on the list. Even if racing isn’t your fancy, the experience is unforgettable. First, the cars are the LOUDEST THING ON EARTH. Okay, maybe not, but pretty damn close. These 10,000 horsepower cars, shaking and rattling like they may fly apart at any minute (and sometimes do), shake your innards when they go by. Senoia Raceway
I have been covering racing at the national level (NASCAR, NHRA) for several years now, but there’s nothing quite like the atmosphere of racing at small, hometown tracks like Senoia Raceway. Talladega for USA Today Sports
Here are few frames from my assignment on Sunday to cover the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. I didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked wandering through the tens of thousands of fans who flock here twice a year, but we did have a spectacular race in some of the most beautiful weather Alabama has to offer.
